Privacy, and who runs this site
Who runs this site
Tournament OS, run by Hung Dinh, 236 S Feldner Road, Orange, CA 92868, United States
Contact: support@tournamentos.org.
Each tournament here is run by its own organiser, whose contact (a name, and an e-mail or phone they chose) is shown at the bottom of its entry page. The organiser decides what their event costs, how it is paid for, and sees the entries made to it.
What is kept, and why
- Your e-mail address. It is how you sign in: there are no passwords.
- When you enter an event: your name, year of birth, gender, club, home country and region, the level you play at, any federation number you give, and a mobile number if you give one for text messages. Your events, your partner, how you chose to pay, and whether you have paid.
- On the day: your matches and results, messages sent to your phone and your replies, and when your phone last opened your day page.
- After your matches: your rating in each sport, and the nods other players gave you.
- For signing in: which devices you are signed in on (only "iPhone · Safari" and the like), until the sign-in runs out after 90 days and for a month after that; and the network address a sign-in request came from, for a few hours, to stop anybody sending sign-in e-mails in bulk.
- A log of changes: who changed what at a tournament, and when. It records changes, not what anybody looked at.
- If you size a tournament at /plan and save it before signing in: the plan's numbers only (events, courts, times), for up to seven days, without your e-mail or network address.
What anybody can see
- The draws, results, court boards and hall screen of an event show the names of the people playing, with their partners and their scores, and before each name a small flag of the country the player chose, unless the organiser has switched flags off. A medal certificate also shows the flag of the state or province, where one was chosen. That is what entering a tournament is.
- The leaderboard and a player's public card show a name, club, region and level, with the flags of the player's country and, where one was chosen, state or province. Nobody under 18 is ever on them, and anybody can ask to be left off.
- An event's entry page shows who runs it and a way to reach them: an e-mail or phone the organiser chose (an e-mail other than their own sign-in only once somebody at that address has confirmed it), so players know who they are paying.
- No e-mail address or phone number of a player is shown to the public anywhere. None of these pages is offered to search engines.
Children
An entry for somebody under 16 has to be made, and agreed to, by a parent or guardian. Children's names and results appear on the draws and results of the events they enter, like everybody's; they are never on the leaderboard or a public card.
Who else handles it
- The company hosting this site and its database, which keeps everything above.
- Resend, which sends the e-mails: your address and what is in the e-mail.
- If the organiser uses text messages, Twilio: your mobile number and the message.
- If you pay by card, Stripe: the card details are typed on Stripe's own page and never reach this site.
- If this site uses the assistant for questions it cannot answer by itself, Anthropic: the question you typed and the facts about the event needed to answer it.
- Google Fonts, which serves the lettering these pages use and so sees your browser's network address.
- If you press "Use my location" on the front page, the place-name service this site uses (Geoapify, or OpenStreetMap): your browser's position, rounded to about a kilometre, sent once from this site's server to learn your country and state. Neither this site nor its log keeps the position.
Nothing is sold, and there is no advertising and no tracking. The only cookies are the ones that keep you signed in, and one that remembers the country or state you chose on the front page. To show players near you, the front page guesses your country from your connection or your browser's language and keeps nothing about it.
Seeing, changing or removing what is kept about you
Write to support@tournamentos.org from the address you sign in with. You can ask for a copy of everything kept about you, for anything wrong to be corrected, to be left off the leaderboard and public card, or for your details to be deleted. The operator does these by hand, and writes back to say what was done.
